One Good Thing Apparently Came Out of that $3.9T Deficit-Increasing Tax Bill

For the past year, mass transit users have been subsidizing drivers. After three years of parirty (2009-2011), the limit on pre-tax contributions to mass transit was dropped from parity: drivers could exempt $240 a month, while commuters could exempt only $125. (Adding insult to injury, parking is treated separately. Both dreivers and commuters could exempt an additional $240 a month in parking expenses, rather as both rich and poor can "choose" to sleep under bridges.)

Parity returns this year, though apparently rather too late for January. (Though parking is still subsidized to excess.)

It's something.
