where do you begin to express the outrage

of the hate and misogyny of the republicans? really...where do you begin?

legitimate rape? what the hell is that? oh, yeah...that's right. women are hysterical and will lie and call it "rape" just, well...just because. and marital rape, well...that isn't "rape" either. that shouldn't be criminalized. that's just a man getting what he deserves from his "property", oh, i mean wife.

a woman who wants to practice personal responsibility by using birth control is, well, called a "slut" because according to the gop, a woman shouldn't actually enjoy the act of love making and plan to engage in it responsibly.

forget romneyhood' "magic underwear," according to the gop woman have this "magic natural substance" in their private parts that protects women from becoming pregnant if they are raped...or lie about being raped. '

if a woman gets pregnant, she isn't intelligent enough to decide what to do with her body, her future. according to the gop, she should be joyous that she is a human broodmare for men dictating her life. apparently life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness shouldn't apply to woman...or blacks...or latinos (or any brown skinned person the gop likes to refer to as "illegals." oh, wait...they want to sterilize those people because the gop thinks they are having too many babies.)

what if men were forced to have a probe thrust up into their bodies against their will, i'm sure there would be laws against such action...but when it happens to women (transvaginal probe) it's "for their own good."

men deserve to get more pay than women for doing the same job according to the gop because, well, they are men. they shouldn't be "emasculated" by some "smart a** b****h" 

really. wtf? really.

i am just speechless with disbelief over the c**p these creeps are spewing out without media pushback to their misogyny.

one of our marsupial cousins, currently residing in germany, is on the lam! (or is that wallaby?) grist:

over the past weekend, three kangaroos at the hochwildschutzpark hunsrück near frankfurt chose the second option. with the help of their fellow animal park residents, who had already made (supposedly) coincidental escape hatches in various zoo enclosures, the kangaroos — skippy, jack, and mick — made a hop for it. as of monday, two of them had been caught, but one has managed to evade capture. zoo officials stressed that skippy, or whichever one it is, is friendly and poses no danger to the public. still, there is no telling what he might do if you try to take his seat in the qantas first class lounge.

Dear President Obama

I have voted for the Democratic candidate for President every year that I could vote up to and including 2008. I voted straight Democratic in 2010.  I will vote Democratic in every race this year except the Presidency because I do not believe you are really a Democrat.

Let's look at the facts.  Your promise to end the Bush tax cuts required exactly 0 Republican votes and yet you signed legislation to extend them.

Rep. Ryan is the most despicable Republican alive because he wants to starve grandmothers by cutting Social Security and Medicare.  Just like you proposed.  Repeatedly.

You will not have my vote this November.  The fault lies with you.  I cannot in good conscience support you again.  I will not vote for Romney either.  His policies and yours are extremely hard to differentiate and that is the problem.

Please find your  conscience and your soul when you win re-election.  As you are a wholly owned subisdiary of Goldman Sachs I do not believe you can.

rip bill rafferty

we just got the very sad news that one of skippy's old friends from the comedy days, bill rafferty, passed away this morning.

tho skippy knew bill from coming up thru the comedy trenches in the late 70's san francisco comedy scene, most of america knew bill as one of the erstwhile hosts of real people, part of the ur-reality genre that began to invade television in the 80's.

bill went on to host many one-offs of game shows, including blockbuster and the revamped card sharks.

and before real people, bill (along with robin williams, another sf comedy staple from skippy's early days) was one of george schlatter's choices for the revamped (and pretty bad) version of laugh-in.

bill made a few appearances in various tv shows, including nash bridges, which filmed in the san francisco bay area, where bill chose to live. most recently he was the host of retired and wired, which looked at senior living with (or against?) technology.

bill was a staunch conservative, and had many a facebook debate w/skippy in the past few months. we had heard that he was sick recently, but had also heard he was out of the woods. apparently, not far enough out of the woods.

bill was a gracious and generous man, was well as supremely talented and quite funny. he always had nothing but great things to say about skippy when they played the coffee gallery and the other cafe in the old days, and was always great fun to perform with. bill also never let his television success go to his head, and was always ready to pal around with his old buddies, even after becoming a tv reality star.

we are very very sad to hear of his passing, and comedy is just a little bit less humorous tonight.
